Forget What You Think You Know
So today was the first day of normal classes. At the end of the day, I have accelerated algebra, which is basically a college level algebra class. The teacher for that class is an older middle eastern guy who is a complete genius. Today, he taught us about numbers, literally. He started by asking us what real numbers are. We all gave fair answers to his question, my answer was that real numbers are numbers that are not imaginary, which is true. He then proceeded to grill me about imaginary numbers (which, by the way we won't cover for another month.) until I second guessed myself on something that I had right. After explaining to the group what real numbers are, he talked about the history of numbers until class ended. This left everyone with the feeling that we were really lost. On a better note, though, I did confirm everything that I thought about imaginary numbers with the google machine. I guess that the point here is that even if the super smart guy shuts you down, take comfort in the fact that google knows you're right.
